Small

Small – a poem

I made myself small

To go unnoticed, invisible

Small voice, unheard

Small presence, unseen

Small person, unremembered.

Behind mum’s crisply pleated linen skirt

Small, quiet, hidden well; never speak to strangers

School disco nights, dark corners sought

Small expectations

Always invisible, least remembered face

By friends once enjoyed, who’ve long forgotten.

Remaining in the Background unrecognised

Small wonder

I stand tall now

To shout ‘Helloooo’

I’m here, this is me!

See me

Hear me

Remember me

Love me.
